Rock The Boat

Hello beautifuls,
After being inspired by all of the Sky Blue at New York fashion week I bought Rock the Boat by Essie.  I am so excited that Priceline has started to sell Essie.  I've constantly seen it only Polyvore for a while, so it was nice to finally be able to try one of their products.  Rock the boat is the perfect for those of you who are just going into Spring and need to add a bit of colour to your look.  This colour has a slightly glossy finish.  Over the last few weeks trialing this polish I can confidently that Rock the Boat stays incredibly well intact.  Whilst wearing this polish it has been subjected to being ground against harsh materials such as metal cement.  In the future I will definitely being trying other Essie colours.

When painting my nails I used three thin coats to create an even effect, with a topcoat of Revlon Colour Stay Topcoat.

Extreme Brush Cleaning

Hello Beautifuls!  Hope you are all having a fabulous week so far.  Today I decided it was finally time to give my make up brushes a really good clean.  When I say a really good clean I mean attempting to clean brushes that I have given up on due to really bad face paint. ( Let's just say I won't be putting my poor brushes through that again.)

Whilst doing this I decided to find out for you guys which facial cleaners will leave your brushes good as new.  I chose facial cleaners rather than anything else, because I know I can trust that they won't be left with anything nasty that could be potentially bad for my skin.

Excuse the Clearasil bottle it still has black eye shadow on it.  My top two were definitely Palmer's Coco Butter Formula with Vitamin E Gentle Daily Cleanser and Clearasil Ultra Pimples + Marks Wash and Masks.

Palmer's and Clearasil both came out completely clear in these tests.  I also found this whilst washing my brushes.  However Clearasil cleaned the brushes faster than Palmer's.

Clearasil $10.99                                                     Palmer's Coco Butter Formula
                                                                                                           $8.39

Valentine's Day Biscuits

Happy Valentine's Day beautifuls!  Since it is almost Valentine's Day I though I would show you a easy recipe to use for Valentine's Day.  For both the biscuit mixture and icing I have used an altered recipe from the Third Edition of the Day to Day Cookery Book.

Biscuits ~
Ingredients:
125g of butter or margarine (softened)
1/2 cup caster sugar
1 3/4 cups of self-raising flour
1 egg
Vanilla

1. Mix the butter and sugar together until the sugar has dissolved.  By this time the mixture should also look like a cream.
2. Add the egg and beat well.
3. Add vanilla.
4. Cover bench top with a fine layer of flour.  Place dough on bench and create a ball.  After this evenly flatten out dough.
5. Use a heart shaped biscuit/cookie cutter and cut out biscuits.
6. Place dough shaped hearts onto a tray covered in greased baking paper.  Ensure they are placed evenly so they do not touch once cooked.

7. Bake biscuits at about 170 degrees/moderate heat till golden brown.

Icing~
I have created a marble butter icing to use as a base for my icing.  However biscuits can be just iced with the marble icing.

Ingredients:

2 cups of icing sugar
4 tablespoons of butter or margarine (softened)
1 teaspoon of milk
Vanilla

Pink icing:
1. Sift 1 cup of icing sugar into one bowl and add butter.
2. Mix until a cream has been created.
3. Slowly mix in milk until a paste has been created.
4. Add vanilla and mix.
5. Add pink food dye.  Do not mix in completely allowing the marble effect to be created.
6. Cover biscuits in marble icing.  The messier the marble effect is, the better it looks.

White icing:
1. Sift 1 cup of icing sugar into one bowl and add butter.
2. Mix until a cream has been created.
3. Add vanilla and mix.

Here a few decoration ideas.  I have also use mixed cachous to decorate.

Have a wonderful Valentine's Day everyone.
~R xx

Sky Blue

My favourite trend at the moment would definitely have to be sky blue. It's perfect for those of you who are about to go into Spring in a couple of weeks, to add a bit a colour to your wardrobe.  Those who are about to go into Winter as well can add a dash of colour as a colour to a traditionally dark fall wardrobe.  As you may have seen in my previous post about coloured coats for fall.  Here are a few beautiful sky blue pieces to add to your wardrobe
